Staycation at the Luxurious St. Regis Toronto

St. Regis Toronto hotel staycation

There’s really nothing more relaxing than going on a spa getaway when the weather is dipping. It’s the ultimate form of luxury that’s become a bit of a year-end tradition for me. However, since 2020 made travelling a tad more difficult, I decided to take matters into my own hands by booking a staycation at the St. Regis Toronto instead.
With no plans on the itinerary, other than practicing self-care and escaping reality for a bit, the St. Regis felt like the perfect mini getaway. Plus, I’d forgotten how nice it can be to just lounge in a bathrobe (other than my own) again. Read on for my full experience at this luxurious five-star hotel located in downtown Toronto.

Checking into the St. Regis Toronto

I checked into the St. Regis Toronto mid-November during their holiday season. Immediately, I was greeted by the friendliest staff that made the check-in process completely seamless. The lobby was decorated beautifully with all their festive touches finished with a stunning Christmas tree front and centre. All this while a superior suite was waiting for me on the 21st floor.
I felt like royalty from the beginning, signalling my staycation was already off to a good start. When I was handed my hotel key card, my heart swooned knowing the St. Regis would be my humble abode for the weekend. There are no words to describe how much I’ve missed the hotel life. This one just so happened to be a five-star accommodation fully equipped with spa facilities and central views of Toronto.

Upon entering my Superior King Suite at the St. Regis Toronto, I must have done a little happy dance after seeing how spacious and modernly cozy it was. It was one of the biggest suites I’ve stayed in so far. Not too shabby for a first timer in this hotel. Even more, the thoughtful welcome gift that the St. Regis prepared for my arrival made me physically gasp.
St. Regis had gifted me an assorted platter of artisan chocolates with a sweet note welcoming me into their hotel. Someone must have tipped them off that I’m a major chocolate lover because this was just too perfect. With such an impressive start, I was more than ready to get this staycation started while indulging in a little chocolate therapy.

The Superior King Suite

The Superior King Suite was one of the most luxurious ones I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. With surrounding views of Toronto down below and plenty of natural light, it felt very homey in a luxe setting. We were also given a brand new room that’s never been used before. This was great as I didn’t have to worry about anyone else staying before us during COVID times.
There were a total of three TV screens, one of which was inside the bathroom above the double sinks. That was one feature I’d never experienced in any other hotel. Although we only used one of the screens during our stay (the one in the living room), I can’t deny it was a nice touch overall. The lighting fixtures were also all touch-activated, including the curtains, making everything super modern and easy to use.

The main thing I was concerned about when staying at the St. Regis Toronto was the bed. I don’t have the luxury of staying in a king bed on the regular, as I’m sure most of us don’t. So when planning for this staycation, I made it my priority to get the king bed if possible. If we’re staying at the St. Regis, my mantra is to go all out. For me, that means sleeping in a big comfy bed and falling asleep in my fluffy white robe.
Good thing the king bed at the St. Regis really let me snooze. I loved how there wasn’t any light interference as I slept – thanks to their touch-activated blinds. And when I awoke well-rested in the morning, I had the loveliest view of the city before me. The bedroom felt very cozy overall and came equipped with a massive en suite bathroom. I ended up soaking in the most relaxing bubble bath (complete with bubbles provided) while I was there.

Spa Facilities at the St. Regis

Although I was disappointed that the sauna and hot tub weren’t operating when I stayed, luckily, the heated pool was still open. Located on the 32nd floor of the St. Regis Toronto, the infinity-edge lap pool was one of the nicest I’ve visited in the city. Whether you’re there to lounge or to swim, it was great for an evening dip. The water was set at the perfect temperature and at a decent depth for non-swimmers like myself. Best part is that you get to reserve the pool all to yourself. Luckily for us, we enjoyed the space for close to an hour before another couple joined us.

If you want a tranquil space with sky-high views, the pool at the St. Regis is the ultimate form of luxury. It’s conveniently open until 10pm for hotel guests. However, I’d recommend visiting the heated pool during the day. There isn’t much of a view at night as the windows make it too dark to see out of. Plus, just imagine the space being beautifully bathed in natural light when coming in daytime. Perfection.
You can also book a treatment at Iridium Spa, located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis for those looking to get the full spa experience. Treatments include RMT massages, facials, body treatments, nail services and couples packages. The services were on the pricier side starting at $230 for most massages that I opted to just enjoy the heated pool on this visit. Being at the pool alone was the perfect self-care gift to myself at the St. Regis.

LOUIX LOUIS Restaurant

One downside of planning a staycation during COVID was that there was no dine-in option at the hotel. However, the staff allowed us to have a peek around their restaurant, which we didn’t hesitate on. When we went in, the dining space at Louix Louis was pure opulence. With the golden bronze liquor displays reaching the tall ceilings and the accented leather seating, it looked straight out of a Great Gatsby set.
I’d been dreaming of trying LOUIX LOUIS’s thirteen-layer chocolate cake (aka The King’s Cake) but alas, it was not meant to be. With Toronto back in lockdown during my visit, only room service was available. Although there was the option to order this delectable cake via room service, I opted to save it for another time. Mark my words, when lockdown measures ease and we can enjoy a meal indoors again, I’ll be coming back for it.

St. Regis Toronto hotel Christmas
Christmas in the city at the St. Regis Toronto
With the holiday decorations being fully out in November, St. Regis Toronto created a magical space for guests to step into. The multiple lavish trees lining up the foyer really set the mood as soon as I arrived for my staycation. The lobby was especially stunning with its cozy and warm atmosphere. I couldn’t help but feel that magical Christmas feeling during my stay.
The main tree right by the revolving doors was the prettiest of them all. So much so that I got dressed up to do a little shoot in the middle of the night when no one was around. If anything, I’d come back just to see that tree again. For those craving some Christmas vibes, St. Regis has one of the most decked out trees in the city.

After staying up until 5am to enjoy a bubble bath (which was also the favourite part of my stay), I awoke to a rainy day in Toronto. However, we were lucky enough to be given a generous late check-out at 3pm that we took advantage by staying in the suite a bit longer. During this time, we finished off our decadent chocolates, stayed in our robes awhile longer all the while getting to witness a major thunderstorm begin from our 21st floor suite.
My short stay at the St. Regis Toronto reminded me how much I’ve missed hotel living. Without a chance to stay anywhere outside of our own homes the whole year, having the opportunity to do that again was so worth it. Initially, I had been very hesitant to travel but booking a staycation downtown just made sense. It was great to venture out – yet still be close to home – while finally being pampered again. And best of all, I got to accomplish my one goal of falling asleep in a fluffy white robe again.
