4 Ways on How to Style Leather into Your Winter Wardrobe

It’s a new year and though this one’s off to an interesting start, now is the best time to have fun with your style. If you’re like me, I’ve found looking your best always gives you an instant mood boost. In particular, working leather into my outfit always makes me feel super confident and chic. And that is more than enough reason to incorporate it into my winter wardrobe now more than ever.

If you’re looking for an alternative to wearing jeans everyday, leather pants are the way to go. They add that extra bit of texture and sheen to an otherwise drab winter look. As well, it transforms an all-black outfit from something that would otherwise be a boring one to an edgy one. For this reason, I try to stock up on as many leather pieces as possible and the possibilities are quite endless. Check out the four different ways to how to style leather for some chic winter looks.

1. Leather trousers with booties.

I got myself a pair of leather trousers last fall and they were probably the best decision I’ve ever made. There’s something about leather trousers that instantly make you feel like a boss while looking put together. If there’s one piece you need in your wardrobe to slay the leather trend, it’s definitely this one. I love wearing them over a fitted turtleneck or bodysuit to balance out the baggy silhouette. As well, rolling up the hems of my pant legs give that touch of style while letting my chic booties peek out. Whenever I want to feel my most confident, I just put on a pair of leather trousers to complete my look.

2. Leather leggings with contrasting boots.

One of my most favourite outfits to rock has to be an all-black look with contrasting boots whether that be a contrast in colour or texture. To switch up the look, I always style a black top with my leather leggings. They are easy and comfortable to wear not to mention keep my legs warm while looking super stylish. Whenever I have no idea what to style with a sweater or cardigan, I throw on a pair of leather leggings to add a bit of spice. We can all agree that leather does just that – it’s eye-catching and stands out from the rest of your clothing. I loved styling these leggings with my beige-coloured boots; I felt all sorts of edgy but completely feminine rocking this fit.

3. Leather skirt with knee-high boots.

This one might not be a popular choice now that it’s January and all but I still manage to stay cozy with a pair of pantyhose underneath and a long overcoat on top. A leather skirt is undeniably sexy and sometimes a girl just wants to feel like she’s got somewhere to go, you know? I got this super cute skirt during my Black Friday shopping and especially loved the small slit in the front seam. Styled with a pair of my suede knee-high boots, they make for a polished but sexy winter look. If you really want to have some fun with your winter wardrobe this year, a leather skirt is the perfect way to spice up your style.

4. Leather Trousers with a Puffy Coat.

I used to think only skinny jeans or leggings went with puffy coats but that’s no longer true. Another way to style your oversized coats for a more stylish flair is with leather trousers. They instantly give your outfit some sophistication and an almost formal look. Many times, with a puffy coat, it comes off as sporty and casual-looking but styled with some chic trousers, they look completely elevated. There’s something about baggy leather trousers that gives you an extra spring in your step that I just don’t get with skinnies. I’d invest in a pair of cool leather trousers if you’re looking for something versatile that can be styled in endless ways.

With many of us stuck indoors once again this winter, it’s very important to dress up once in awhile. I don’t believe anyone should have to spend all day in their pyjamas everyday unless that’s what truly makes you happy. As for me, when I dress like a 10, I feel like a 10. This helps to keep my mental health in check, which has been difficult with everything closing down. In order to keep my mood up, I turn to playing around with my wardrobe for the time being.

Leather has always been one of my favourite materials to wear and incorporate into my wardrobe. The ways to style it are endless – it’s intriguing, edgy but yet so chic and stylish. Leather can up your style factor effortlessly and best part is you can always dress it up or dress it down. I’ve always loved how an outfit can look so much more powerful and edgy by switching out one item with a piece of leatherwear. People are just naturally drawn to the look of leather and during these long winter months, we all need something to spice up our wardrobe.
