It’s been over a year since Summer Fridays hit the shelves in Sephora but the craze for these babies aren’t slowing down anytime soon. Made popular on social media and founded by Instagram influencer Mariana Hewitt, Summer Fridays is one of the most highly coveted beauty lines for facial masks at the moment. I finally decided to bite the bullet and find out what all the hype was about and see if these masks are really worth the hefty price tag. I tried out two of her most popular products: the Jet Lag mask and R&R mask. As advertised, these masks promise to replenish your skin’s complexion from lack of sleep to improve the overall look of dry and dull skin. I’ve been trying them out for the past two weeks and I’ve come to a verdict on whether Summer Fridays is really as life-changing as they say.
The first mask I tried out from Summer Fridays is the Jet Lag Mask. What I loved from first sight were the pretty tubes these products come in – reminds of tubes of paint from my art school days. The packaging is very simple and for $59, you get 2.25 oz of product. I’d say that’s a pretty good amount for a mask but the price is still pretty steep nonetheless. As instructed, I used a thin layer on my entire face and left it on overnight. Upon the first usage, I was a bit turned off by the strong scent; it smelled oddly like acrylic paint (which I guess goes with their tubes-of-paint look). However, I liked how it added a nice glow to my skin afterward and it was a major plus that I didn’t need to rinse it off after. Instead, it just replaced my moisturizer for the night, which was great.
The Jet Lag Mask is supposed to restore your skin’s brilliance when your sleep schedule has gone haywire or after a night of hardcore partying – hence the name. That itself was enough to make me want to try it out since I tend to sleep late (especially when traveling) that this seemed like a great solution to those bad skin days after a long flight. The verdict? While I like how it acts as a mask and moisturizer all in one, I didn’t see any significant difference the morning after. My skin wasn’t noticeably brighter or look any more refreshed than usual. Now, I have yet to test it out right before a flight and it might come in handy then but from first impressions, I didn’t see any life-altering effects from this product. I do really like that it’s a 2-in-1 so you could essentially use the Jet Lag Mask every night in replacement of your moisturizer, which would make it worth the $59 retail price.
The second Summer Fridays product that I tried is the R + R Mask. Priced a bit higher than the Jet Lag Mask at $68, it boasts many restorative properties with an extensive list of ingredients. Upon the first usage of this mask, I was instantly in love with the scent of roses that welcomes you. Its ingredients include a vast list of antioxidant-rich oils such as argan, safflower, sesame, avocado and grape seed. When applying the product to my cleansed face, I literally felt like I was walking through a garden of roses. R + R contains one of the world’s most essential oil – Bulgarian rose – which explains the euphoric rose scent. I’d say my favourite part had to be the soothing scent of the mask, which had me feeling like I was having my own mini-spa treatment. The mask is also infused with many replenishing ingredients – most notably wild rose powder – that it felt like I was exfoliating during the process as well.
Unlike the Jet Lag mask, R + R had to be taken off with a damp towel afterward – like how you normally would with any mask. I loved how smooth it made my skin feel once I took it off; it was noticeably softer to the touch. As said in the description, the mask is known to buff away dead skin cells and replenish moisturize. I could definitely feel the effects of it on my skin as it had a luminous glow to it and felt so supple as a result. My complexion also looked much brighter and completely refreshed – it was just what I needed after a long stressful week. I will note that my skin felt a bit tight the morning after and had a matte finish so it might not be as hydrating as I would’ve liked. However, I definitely liked using R + R Mask more than the Jet Lag Mask. I could really see a difference the mask made to my previously dull skin whereas, on the other hand, I didn’t experience much of an impact from the Jet Lag mask.
All in all, I’d say Summer Fridays is a good skincare line with a lot of added benefits to it but for the high price point, I probably wouldn’t repurchase. There are a lot more affordable options out there that perform just as well. However, I will say R + R is worth a try – it’s unique in the number of beneficial ingredients it contains and it did wonders for my skin. If anything, that should be the star product of Summer Fridays; I’ve never tried anything quite like it and the wondrous smell of aromatic roses will forever be in my memory.

I’ve been thinking of trying out Summer Fridays but wasn’t sure because they are quite pricey like you say. Thanks for comparing the two! I’ll most likely give R + R a try and see how it works for my combination skin.
Thanks for reading! It’s definitely more on the pricier end so take some time to try it out and see if the results work for you. It’s hard not to fall in love with the scent of R&R though!
Great suggestions as always! Love your content and can’t wait to read more. I also finished reading your Vegas post – what an adventure!!! Love your outfits!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your feedback. I’m coming out with a new travel post soon so stay tuned! 🙂
