How to Dress Like a Boss With These Spring Jackets

Spring jackets fashion style Although spring has officially arrived in Toronto, it sure still feels a lot like winter. With this cold front still lingering, the best way to stay warm while looking super stylish is by stocking up on some killer spring jackets. The best part of the warmer weather coming back has to be when you shed that heavy winter parka and start experimenting with different jacket styles again. My ultimate favourite spring jacket to slay in recently has been a sleek long wool overcoat. Pictured above, dressed in my super chic pink wool coat, this spring jacket keeps me warm so that I can wear lighter layers underneath. Known as the Stedman Wool Coat from Aritzia, it’s been a fab find that adds a polished look to any outfit while staying super feminine. I simply styled this look with a black cropped long sleeve and leather leggings so the jacket could take center stage. The contrast in colours really made me feel like a boss while wearing this during my many downtown strolls.

Another amazing spring jacket that’s basically a staple for boss babe status is the ultra-fashionable teddy coat. If you don’t already have one of these in your closet, get on it because they will seriously give you a major confidence boost. I wasn’t sure if I could rock one myself at first because of their poofy shape combined with my petite frame but I was pleasantly surprised. The full and voluminous shape of the teddy coat gives off an understated power look – no shoulder padding required – while emanating all kinds of femme fatale. Not to mention, I love how it’s fuzzy all over so it feels so cozy while wearing it over my spring outfit. The overcoat is definitely better for a more sophisticated look while the teddy coat is very casual and trendy. I styled my teddy coat with a simple turtleneck, ripped jeans and army boots for a relaxed Sunday look. The beauty of this spring jacket is that it can go from casual to fierce in two seconds depending on how you style it. Why not try rocking a teddy coat over a mini dress and heels on a Friday date night as well? A teddy coat can do no wrong in my eyes.

The beauty of both these spring jackets is the amount of layering you can get away with. Spring weather is anything but predictable – especially in Toronto – so I like to wear sweaters underneath just in case. Both jackets are quite roomy and you can definitely get away with some extra layers to complete your look. I styled this jacket with my super cozy grey oversized cardigan underneath and it definitely complements the all-black ensemble I have on. I finished off the outfit with my form-fitting booties and my mini studded crossbody for an edgy spring look. There’s something about an overcoat that gives an effortlessly dapper look to your entire outfit that you can’t help but feel like a boss in it. As well, the length of it is amazing for a night out when you want to keep warm while wearing a dress underneath. If anything, a stylish long wool coat should be your number one spring essential to get you through those chilly nights until real spring appears. In the meantime, get yourself some statement spring jackets to up your style game!
