Finding that perfect trench coat is like finding a good pair of earrings – once you do, you just want to wear it all the time. I loved wearing this Babaton trench back in early fall and now that it’s spring, it’s easily my go-to to throw over any outfit. Of course, the everchanging weather’s been keeping me from rocking it on the daily but when it hits those double digits, it’s the easiest thing to style that will add a touch of style to my daily wear. It’s been a while since I’ve worn anything but dark colours, that pulling out lighter tones really got me in the mood for springtime. Pictured above, I’m decked out in my all light blue ensemble that surely makes a statement for spring. Most times, I won’t wear the same colour over another (unless it’s black of course) but with this airy trench coat, it works! The blue on blue gives the outfit a very chic touch that makes for a sweet weekend look when brunching with the girls.
When you find the perfect trench coat that works for you, it’s easy to dress it up or down. The beauty of a trench is its ability to go from casual to sexy in a matter of minutes. Pictured above, I switched out of my cotton slip dress with a skintight mini dress and replaced my white Keds with some suede booties. This dress from Fashion Nova, in particular, tends to be really short, which is why a long trench coat works well as a cover-up when you want to keep things classy. And if you know me by now, you know I love styling many of my outfits with a pair of booties to add some edge to the overall look. I would definitely wear this look on a night out on the town when I’m in the mood to show off some leg. With the change of just two items, I was able to switch up this trench from a daytime to a nighttime look.
I love how versatile this trench coat is. I like wearing it as an extra layer over my outfit instead of as a jacket. The material itself is super lightweight, which is perfect for warmer days when you want an alternative to a cardigan. When looking for that perfect trench, I tend to look for one that’s more draped to get that feminine silhouette. I was also pretty sold on this jacket when I saw that it could be switched into three-quarter sleeves. If you’re like me who is constantly rolling up their sleeves on everything, this feature is a godsend.
Whether you’re rocking a casual Sunday look or a Friday party look, it’s no doubt that a trench coat is the perfect piece to add a touch of style to any outfit. Lately, especially with the spring weather coming through, it’s been the easiest way to take my look to the next level – it’s in between casual and formal but can do both.

The trench coat looks amazing on you especially paired with your mini dress. You look very beautiful in it and just wondering, how do you manage to keep you Keds so white??
Thank you for the quick ideas on how to style a trench coat.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you like the post. This trench is definitely an easy piece to wear over any spring outfit. As for the Keds, they’re still relatively new but I’ve been lucky so far! *Fingers crossed
