Ring in the New Year with Metallic Shades

I have no idea where the time went but it’s already time for my favourite holiday (next to Halloween) again: New Year’s Eve! The best part of ringing in the new year? Putting together that perfect party ensemble, which usually includes glitter, sequins or this year – metallics. If you haven’t heard already, metallics are huge this season and I have a hunch that you’ll be spotting them in every New Years Eve party in the city. What else is trending hard this year? Slip dresses. So naturally, when I spotted this metallic slip dress in Aritzia, my eyes gleamed with excitement. It’s the perfect mix of glam and sophistication that will surely wow those partygoers while looking effortlessly chic at the same time.

Whether you like rocking gold or silver metallics, you’re sure to make a bold statement in this dress while looking like you didn’t try at all – the beauty of a slip dress. It’s casual enough to throw under a turtleneck and formal enough to dress up for a night out. For this special occasion, I paired it with all black accessories, keeping the look ultra-stylish and elegant. I decided on a sleek pair of peep-toe booties, which added a nice edge to my look. Standing at five foot four, I find wearing booties really lengthens my legs with any outfit (must be the reason I have multiple pairs – all in black).

To complete the look, I put on the newest addition to my choker collection (thanks to my sis), which really gives it the feminine edge I always try to incorporate into any outfit. Since the metallic shade is glamorous enough, there’s no need to bring out those glitzy jewels for this occasion – the silver speaks for itself. Now, grab a glass of champagne and be ready to say hello to 2018 in style.
