Relax at Body Blitz Spa – Toronto’s Women’s Only Spa

Body Blitz women’s spa

As we know, the beginning of the year is always the hardest. Everything looks dreary and the wintery conditions definitely don’t help. How do I de-stress and deal with the January blues you ask? I love spending a day at Body Blitz Spa. There’s honestly nothing better on a bitter cold day than to indulge in a bit of self-pampering. Even better when it’s at a women’s only spa perfect for all your self-care needs.

The best time of year for a spa day is definitely when it’s freezing outside. That makes wintertime the perfect weather to enjoy some water therapy. Although Toronto doesn’t have any outdoor Nordic spas, I found the next best thing. Say hello to Body Blitz, a women’s only indoor spa located right in the heart of Downtown Toronto. I’d heard good things about this place before visiting, that I decided to see for myself how it stacks up against my other epic spa experiences.

Body Blitz Spa

I visited Body Blitz Spa on a Saturday around 4pm and got in within half an hour’s time. This women’s only spa offers many different treatments ranging from body scrubs and facials to hair wraps and massages. However, being advertised as health by water, I decided only on the therapeutic waters, which costs $68 per visit. It costs $10 less on Tuesdays but I went in on a Saturday instead because Wednesdays and Saturdays after 5pm are supposedly their quietest days.

I stayed at Body Blitz until closing time (which on Saturdays is 8pm) and I can safely say it didn’t get any less busy until after 7pm. The spa was as busy as it gets with many groups of girls day outings coming for a little R&R. The use of electronics was also prohibited at the spa so to capture any photos at all, I had to stay until everyone had left. I didn’t mind though because the last hour before closing was definitely my favourite. There was barely anyone around and I got to enjoy the heated pools all to myself.

Therapeutic Waters Circuit

Body Blitz mainly consists of one main pool room and then a steam room plus sauna in the back. Upon entering the spa, you get a brief walkthrough of the facilitis and the therapeutic waters circuit. I tried following the water circuit as closely as I could but found myself having to take many breaks in between. There were plenty of lounge chairs and showers conveniently located in the pool area so you can easily rinse off after each step. I didn’t manage to get into the Cold Plunge Pool as much as I would’ve liked to though (me and coldness don’t go together).

To begin, I started with the Dead Sea Salt Pool for 10 min, which is the main pool where you’ll find most of the guests. At 98 degrees it wasn’t unbearably hot but just warm enough to feel comfortable in. The main heated pool itself is quite large with lots of seating all around the edges so you can sit and enjoy the powerful jets massaging you. After the Dead Sea Pool, I went into the steam room for another 10 min. The steam room is supposed to be completely silent but that was definitely not the case. Conversations continued in hushed tones, which was the one downside to this all women’s spa. It didn’t have the secluded oasis feeling I was hoping for.

Body Blitz Spa is relatively small and at many times felt cramped with the large number of visitors. They offered earplugs upon arrival to help with the noise but they didn’t do much. There are lounge chairs by the side of the pool but I feel like it would’ve been much better if they had a separate room for quiet time. I found the noise level in the pool room a bit too intense at times to feel relaxed in.

The sauna was probably the quietest part of the whole spa. I found myself being the only one in there many times. The last step being the Hot Epsom Salt Pool (the hottest pool) was definitely the most frequented part of the spa and with good reason. At 104 degrees, the tub felt like absolute heaven with multiple jets massaging my back and feet as I soaked my aching body in the hottest water. However, being a smaller tub, you have to wait until space clears to have your turn in it.

I’d highly recommend coming to Body Blitz Spa for a bachelorette party or as a group rather than on your own. If you do come here solo like I did, make sure to stay until the very last hour to enjoy a moment of blissful peacefulness. My favourite part was sitting in the heated pools all by myself near the end. It was a great way to release all the built-up stress and toxins from my body while fully indulging in the therapeutic waters.

When going to the spa, the hot tubs are what I live for. Body Blitz was especially relaxing because of all the healing salts that are immersed in the waters. It felt very rejuvenating and just what I needed after a day of being frozen in -20 degrees weather. If you’re looking for a large heated pool to soak your body in, Body Blitz is your best bet in Toronto. Make sure to check out their full spa menu to see a list of treatments offered on location. And did I mention you can walk around topless here? Even better 😉

  1. Wow this spa looks amazing. Did they also serve food as well? I will definitely plan a day trip there. Thanks for sharing this!

    1. No problem! They don’t serve food at this spa unfortunately but they do have a juice bar located in the lobby that you can directly order from using one of their phones in the pool room. I saw lots of ladies enjoying their drinks while soaking their bodies in the pool area. However, some snacks would’ve been nice too!
