The Perfect Fall Turtleneck Styled Two Ways From Day to Night

turtleneck Fall essential style With the chilly weather coming through, it’s time to say hello again to my all time favourite fall essential – the turtleneck. It’s been growing in popularity over the years and with good reason. Turtlenecks are such an easy piece to throw on under any fall outfit. Literally speaking, you could wear a turtleneck with absolutely anything – from cozy sweaters to denim jackets and even slip dresses. With this fall look pictured above, I kept things casual by throwing on a cozy oversized cardigan on top of my lightweight turtleneck. I usually prefer the lighter t-shirt material as opposed to the heavier turtleneck sweaters. The beauty of fall is how much layering you can do with your style. With a lightweight turtleneck, you can do just that by layering them under a heavier sweater or fall jacket. This is also my favourite turtleneck that I own! It’s from Aritzia two years ago and I wish they still had this same style because I love how the material is a bit see-through, adding that touch of sex appeal during these fall months 😉

With this look, I switched it up and paired the same turtleneck with a lightweight trench coat. Another thing I love about this turtleneck is how versatile it is. You can either dress it up or dress it down if you’d like. Compared to the oversized cardigan, I’ve styled this outfit with a more fitted silhouette. As well, since I’m a lover of leather, I switched out the leather pants from the first outfit and paired it with a leather skirt instead. With this outfit, you can see how easy it is for a turtleneck to transition from a casual look to a more dressier one, ready for going out. This is definitely a more date-appropriate look and I love that I can stay cozy in a turtleneck all night long while looking super stylish. Again, the major perk of wearing a lightweight turtleneck is the amount of layering you can experiment with. You would never be able to fit a bulky turtleneck sweater under a cute fall trench like this one. I also love how chic this Babaton trench coat looks with the turtleneck underneath. It gives it that perfect touch of understated elegance.

Both turtleneck looks are super stylish and weather appropriate but if I had to choose one, I’d always go for the more casual look. And let’s be real, I just want to stay as warm as possible during these fall months. I paired both looks with my fitted suede booties and Michael Kors studded crossbody. The leather pants give this look an added edge, which is one of the many reasons why I love wearing leather accents. I’d definitely opt for this cozier option as an everyday look and save the dressier option above for a night out. By only changing up two items of clothing, I was able to take this turtleneck from day to night. Sadly, this particular turtleneck is not in stores anymore, as I mentioned earlier, but there’s still plenty of similar styles that you can wear to covet this look. Check out this fitted turtleneck from Wilfred that would look amazing under all your fall wardrobe. Fall is definitely a season to play around with your clothes and the easiest base layer to start with is a chic turtleneck. Trust me, when I say it goes with everything, I mean it!
