We just got hit with a pile of snow but that doesn’t mean you have to keep bundled up. There’s definitely an item of clothing you can wear all year round and that’s the little black dress. Valentine’s Day is just a day away and if you’re like me who thinks wearing pink on V-Day is a bit cliché, the little black dress is a perfect alternative if you want to keep your look chic yet romantic. My favourite ongoing trend of the season has to be the shoulderless look. I have multiple shoulderless tops that I love to wear on a night out so naturally when I saw this shoulderless long sleeve bodycon dress in M by Mendocino, I knew I had to have it. It was also on sale for $30 so a definite win-win!
The thing I love about shoulder-baring dresses is that they’re just as popular in the summer as in the winter. Shoulders have become the most popular body part to show off all year round and you can bet they’ll be out on Valentine’s Day this year. I hate to admit it but I’m a pretty big sucker for these holidays. I’ve always been a bit of a hopeless romantic and one of the best parts of V-Day (besides the flowers and chocolates) is choosing what outfit to wear. I like this dress because although it’s simple, it has a romantic edge to it. The long sleeves keep things classy while the bodycon fit shows off your curves for that flattering form-fitting silhouette.
To complete the outfit, I kept the accessories simple with all silver jewelry but of course, it wouldn’t be Valentine’s day without something pink. I styled this dress with my J Crew quilted crossbody that can easily be transformed into a clutch for that added touch of pink. It definitely added that feminine edge I was looking for and with my peep-toe booties, I was feeling like a million bucks. Even if you don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day this year, every girl needs that one little black dress that makes them feel like they are ready to take on the world in – and I’m pretty sure I’ve found it in this pretty little thing.
