Fall really crept up on us this year but I’ve been welcoming it with open arms. Welcome to the season of cozy oversized sweaters, pumpkin picking and just change in general. Summer was amazing but there’s something about fall that just gets to me. The warmer fall tones are beautiful for one – not just for the leaves but for makeup as well. The bronze, champagnes and deeper blush tones combined together make for a very warm complexion, which I’ve always preferred compared to cooler tones. I’m very fair in general so fall makeup works wonders to create a nice flush to my pale skin tone. Read on to see the only five items I’ll be using to perfect a subtly warm fall makeup look.
1. Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil.
The first and most important part to any makeup look, but especially for fall, is a strong brow. I like my brows to be dark and formed to shape my face. I have naturally light eyebrows that are barely there so using Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil is perfect to help define my facial structure. The Goof Proof pencil now comes in twelve (upgraded from six) varying shades to match anyone’s hair colour. I always use a No. 5 to really darken the look of my brows. The base of any makeup look always starts with a good foundation and then secondly, how you define those arches. I love using Benefit’s eyebrow pencil because it has a wider base that makes it easy to define the shape and fill in the any noticeable gaps. With a stronger brow, you give off a more sultry makeup look, which is perfect for the crisp fall weather.
2. Urban Decay Naked Palette
I’m all about the neutral makeup looks that add a subtle layer of dimensionality. With fall featuring all the warm neutrals to make your face really pop, you need a eyeshadow palette that does the same. I love Urban Decay’s Naked Eyeshadow Palette with its shades of shimmery blush and bronze shades. Urban Decay’s range of Naked palettes are perfect for anyone with fairer to darker skin tone. The tones blended together really deepen the look of your eyes by creating a subtle smokey effect. One might not even notice it though because it’s just that – bare naked; it’s smokey makeup that’s barely there. It adds a perfect touch of smokey fall air to your makeup routine. With the cooler air coming through, darker eyes are perfect to get your eyes popping.
3. MAC Hyper Real Glow Highlighter Palette.
Highlighter is amazing for creating an illuminating glow to your complexion whether that be summer, winter or in the fall. I used to think blush was the most important in getting your cheeks to really pop for fall until highlighter entered my life. I’ve been using the MAC Hyper Real Glow Highlighter Palette in Flash + Awe for awhile now and it does just that. Highlighter when used on the bridge of your nose and apples of your cheeks can give you the glow of your life even when you may not feel the part. Every time I use the MAC palette, people always tell me I’m glowing. The warm blush tones work beautifully to breathe life to a dull complexion – it’s what I like to call my secret weapon. Since days are getting darker sooner, a good highlighter palette goes a long way to illuminate your face for that warm fall glow.
4. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara.
Of course, we can’t forget the most high maintenance part of your fall makeup look – your lashes. I have yet to get a lash extension so the next best thing has been Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara. This mascara works like a dream to lengthen your lashes with no clumping at all. Because I’ve moved away from using heavy eye makeup, I’ve been relying on my trustworthy mascara to really get my eyes to pop. There’s really nothing sexier than sky-high lashes that still look natural and likewise, nothing worse than clumpy or runny mascara. For a subtle fall makeup look, skip the eyeliner and get yourself a fool-proof mascara that maximizes the beauty of your natural lashes. This one literally makes me feel like I’m wearing falsies so it’s pretty close to a lash extension anyway.
5. Bite Beauty Creamy Matte Lip Crayon in Glacé.
The last step in completing your fall makeup look is adding a bold but subtle colour to those luscious lips. I know – bold and subtle seems like the perfect oxymoron but it actually works for Bite Beauty’s collection of lip crayons. They have some really nice deep-coloured lipsticks that bring out the warmth in your skin tone while blending in more naturally than say – a liquid lipstick. I love creamy lipsticks for the fall because they add a nice splash of colour to your face without being too abrasive. I’ve been using their lip crayon in Glacé for years and love it for a more subtle look that still adds a flush of colour to my lips. I also always need lipstick on my face or I’ll look completely washed out. No doubt, the creamy mauve colour is a perfectly deep and rich shade that’ll add a touch of sultriness to all your fall outfits.
I’ve become more of a no-fuss makeup look type this year and fall is no different. With the rich and deeper tones adding a sense of warmth in the air, it’s no wonder fall’s getting everyone excited. It’s been so easy to transition my makeup essentials into fall as I naturally gravitate towards neutrals and darker shades. With just a few key items in my makeup bag, I’m ready to take on fall and its beautiful season of change. You can definitely count on me to be using the same items on the daily – until winter that is.
