3 Holiday Outfit Ideas When You Can’t Decide Between Naughty or Nice

holiday outfit ideas It’s full-on holiday season which means ugly sweaters, candy-cane flavoured everything and a holiday party every weekend until the new year. I love it and hate it at the same time. Because although you automatically get the warm and fuzzy feelings walking around Christmas markets throughout the city, let’s be honest, the holidays are super stressful. Finding the perfect gift for everyone on your list can take a lot out of you but one thing I do love is how much fun I can have with my wardrobe this time of the year. With that being said, there’s only so many outfits you can get away with during the holidays without looking tacky at all. Read on to see how to style some festive yet stylish looks for the season when a girl can’t decide between looking naughty or nice.

Puffy sleeve tops with square necklines dominated the summer trends this past year so naturally, a holiday version of this top really caught my eye. I’ve come to really love velvet over the years and maybe it’s cliche, but how can you resist velvet fashion during this time of the year? This velvet top I’m wearing above screams Christmas but it’s also super cute and wearable. I paired it with my leather pants and knees-high boots for a sexier look in contrast to the princess vibes of my upper half. I love wearing my suede boots over my leather pants because of how much they stand out against each other. I call it my causal yet seductive look when I’m not in the mood to bare my legs in the wintry coldness. I love this look for the holiday season because of this reason. You can always throw on a holiday top and still look ready to go out for drinks as long as you don’t go over the top with the rest of your outfit.

Keeping with the polished look of my knee-highs and leather pants, I styled them with another feminine top for the holidays. If you’re not a fan of velvet, fear not, silky ruched shirts are always a stunner at any holiday event. I love wearing this champagne-coloured top with a fitted bodice because of how effortlessly polished it looks with the flirty neckline. Jazz it up with some pretty jewelry and it’s the perfect top for a holiday brunch or dinner. Make sure you wear a longer necklace to complement the plunging necklace though. You want to draw the eye downwards to ensure you don’t look just plain Jane. I kid you not, I naturally need a glass of wine in my hand whenever I wear this – cheers to holiday open bars. For this Christmas, why not stock up some office-appropriate tops that can easily be switched up for nighttime wear? Satin-finished shirts are the way to go for just that.

Of course, the holidays wouldn’t be complete without a cute dress to slay in. Whether for drinks or for a date, this sweet little slip dress pictured above teeters between casual and dressy. For this occasion, I decided to dress it up with my knee-highs and fluffy black coat for a night out. The black and teal colour combo is really chic and definitely my palette of choice this Christmas. If you’re planning on wearing red and green to your next outing – don’t. The goal is to look festive but not tackilicious. If you want to keep it casual, you can always wear it belted with a turtleneck underneath. It’s so easy to switch up a simple slip dress that way. I also love how the velvet material looks multidimensional and feels cozier than, say, a silk dress. I’m all about fitted silhouettes and minimal dresses that make a big statement. This velvety teal dress does just that and the coat is just an added bonus to look like a boss this holiday. Who says velvet has to look outdated when it naturally gets heads turning?
