How to Look Summer Chic in 3 Simple Ways

summer chic style fashionSummer may be slowly leaving us but there’s still a month left to look summer chic, utilizing just a few key pieces. I’m all about being as comfortable as possible during this time but sometimes, you just want to elevate your summer style a bit. Whether you’re going out to an event, a date or for Sunday brunch – here are three easy ways to always be looking summer chic!

1. Get a pair of statement shorts. Pictured above in my nude bodysuit and leather shorts, I was trying to channel hot girl summer vibes with a bit of an edge. You know how much I love my leather by now that even when it’s thirty degrees outside, I won’t be leaving it behind. I just got these perfect pair of leather shorts with a cute tie-front from M Boutique and have been loving it as an addition to my summer closet. They add just the right amount of style to any basic that I’ll probably be wearing them all the way through fall. They’re super easy to style as well because they pair so well with everything. Instead of wearing a tank top and denim cutoffs, you can opt to wear a chic fitted bodysuit under a pair of statement shorts. I love this bodysuit from Babaton because of how well it pairs with everything. Not to mention, you get to beat the heat while keeping a stylish edge in the least amount of effort!

2. Throw on a blazer and a pair of strappy heels. If leather shorts aren’t your jam, the easiest way to transform your look from a casual one is by styling your outfit with a pair of strappy sandals and a chic blazer. Case in point, you can essentially be wearing anything whether it be a romper, jumpsuit or denim skirt – throwing on a pair of heeled sandals will up your chic factor by 20 points. Pictured above is what I call my business casual outfit. I’m baring all in a sporty bralette (which I’ve worn as a top) and once again, my leather shorts. This outfit alone would’ve been a bit all too-baring but I styled it with a polished white blazer overtop to make this appropriately summer chic. The blazer and sandals definitely elevate my look to a dressier one, giving me that summery feminine vibe with a touch of femme fatale. Dressed in black and white, I’m definitely weekend-ready but most of all, anything but basic.

3. Add in some animal print. Out of all these outfits, my favourite has to be this leopard printed skirt and skinny-strap tank top combo. The main reason being how comfortable it is out of the other three. I’ve never been a huge fan of animal print – or even prints in general – for my clothing but they’ve been really big this year so I thought what the heck. As it turns out, animal print is actually not only a walking statement in itself but is also very feminine and très chic. I also love the midi skirt look – I find that you can easily wear this as a daytime look as well as a nighttime outfit because of the length and flirty print. I ended up pairing all three outfits with my white strappy sandals (see below for full looks) because when I find a pair of heels I like, I wear them with everything. With more than a month of summer still left, looking summer chic is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
