One of the best parts of summer has to be all the music festivals happening every other weekend in various cities. This year, I went to Digital Dreams Music Festival for the first time and the one thing I noticed the most has to be the amount of highlighted cheekbones and sparkle every girl was rocking as part of their festival looks. Safe to say, with all these music fests, you better be packing in multiple highlighters to get that mega glow to catch some laser beams with. I’ve rounded up a short but sweet list of some summer must-have highlighters for all you festival-goers. Although I do love the music at these events, my favourite part has to be the rave-worthy festival makeup and fashion. Try some of these for a camera-ready selfie glow!

1. Fenty Beauty’s Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter in Sand Castle/ Mint’d Mojito. It’s no surprise that no one kills the highlighter game more than Rih Rih herself. With an extensive selection of highlighters in her beauty line, Fenty Beauty is the go-to makeup brand when trying to perfect that festival glow. My favourite product from her line is definitely the Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter. It comes in multiple shades but the one I’m loving for summer is the Sand Castle and Mint’d Mojito duo. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you can also try blending the other four available colour-ways together for some fun festival looks. The metallic shades can be used on the eyes, cheeks or all over your body if you wish. The bronze colour is perfect for adding a golden glow to your cheeks and the mint-blue works as an illuminating highlight when applied to the eyes. However, they can also be interchanged easily depending on the look you’re going for so don’t be afraid to switch it up this summer. What I love most about these highlighters is how the colours can be subtle yet still pack a mean punch – your cheekbones will definitely be seen from a mile away after this.

2. Too Faced Diamond Light Multi-Use Highlighter in Fancy Pink Diamond. It’s a little known fact that Too Faced products have a way of bringing out the most feminine and flirty side of you. With their highlighters, it’s no different as their Diamond Light Multi-Use Highlighter does just that by bringing out the glow queen inside of you. The highlighters come in three different finishes but I personally like the Fancy Pink Diamond the most. It adds a multi-tonal warm pink colour to your cheeks when the shades are blended together, giving a unique rosy shimmer to your complexion. Just as the name suggests, each highlighter is infused with crushed diamond powder, creating a multi-dimensional effect when applied pretty much anywhere on the face and body. If you’re looking for a major holographic effect, you can also try out the finish in Diamond Fire, which comes in a mix of pink, blue and canary shades. When you swirl these colours together, you’ll end up with a one-of-a-kind illuminating effect that’s sure to get you noticed. Shine bright like a diamond, girl!

3. Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil in How Many Carats?! Of all the festival makeup you need in your fanny pack this summer, this one probably takes the cake. If you’re looking to sparkle and shine brighter than the rest, Fenty’s Diamond Bomb creates a 3D glittering veil that can be applied all over your face and body. It’s probably the mother of all highlighters out there because of how insane the diamond-dusted sparkle effect is. When I went to Digital Dreams this year, it was the one product I had to have all over my body. I dusted it onto my cheeks, arms, shoulders and chest to make sure I was the belle of the ball. Inspired by Rihanna’s CFDA 2014 crystal dress, this All-Over Diamond Viel is sure to deck your skin out in a crystal-dusted highlighting finish from top to bottom. I applied this highlighter freely and generously; by the end of it, I noticed it had transferred onto my hair and clothes as well. I don’t know about you but nothing quite screams festival-ready more than a body full of glitter and shimmer. Shine on, my sparkle queens.
