One of my biggest goals with this blog is to bring my love of fashion and travel together. With that, I’ve come to realize how important female reproductive health is. During my trip to Asia this past summer, I must have done more walking and moving around than I ever did in my entire life. In fact, I remember distinctly one messy train ride in Shanghai when I started to leak out my tampon and had nowhere close by to buy any feminine hygiene products. That’s why Lilli Pads, a complete line of organic pads and tampons has become my newest favourite find to prevent those unwanted leaks from happening. I decided to test out their three products myself as I’ve been curious about going organic and finding that most tampons just don’t hold up to my heavy flow nowadays, I couldn’t find a better time to try it out.

Lilli Pads star product is undoubtedly their 100% organic pads ($10.99). I’m not a big fan of pads myself but there are definitely days when I’ll need the added protection – especially if I know I’ll be quite active during the day. I tried out their overnight pad and found that it’s surprisingly lightweight and extremely breathable while being able to take the same amount of absorbency if not more than the average pad. The thing I hate most about pads is how thick and bulky they are – they’re usually so uncomfortable under a tight pair of pants. However, Lilli Pads is so completely soft and paper-thin, you might even forget you’re wearing one. The founder of Lilli Pads, Elaine Kao was actually inspired to create this all-organic line after having a bad reaction to a pad. While using these products, you can definitely feel more confident that not only do they feel good against your body but that they also don’t contain any harmful chemicals that could irritate your sensitive skin.

Another great product in the Lilli Pads line is their organic tampons ($10.99). I’m an avid tampon user as it’s the most discreet way to get through your period, not to mention the least messy as well. However, with tampons, they are prone to leakage – especially on the first couple of days. In fact, I can soak up a tampon within 3 hours on the first day so upon the discovery of Lilli Pads, I was curious to see how they would hold up. I found the Super tampons, made of organic cotton and a sewing yarn, more absorbent and longer-lasting than my usual brand. Of course, I’d still need a liner underneath for added protection but it’s definitely a plus knowing that what I’m putting into my body is toxin-free and made of the simplest materials. The only thing I didn’t like at first was their cardboard applicator but after a few tries, I actually realized how easy it was to use. It’s super comfortable and less tedious than the other applicators I’ve become accustomed to.

Lastly, Lilli Pads also has a line of high-quality pantyliners ($10.99). I never knew how cheap the material of a regular box of liners felt until I compared them to these ones. Lilli Pads liners are super soft to the touch with their organic cotton noticeably more comfortable against the skin. They’re also very flexible and so lightweight that you wouldn’t even be able to notice it under tight-fitted clothing. The liners bend with my body no matter what I’m doing or how much I may be moving around that day. Better yet, these liners come individually wrapped so you can bet each one is prepared carefully and with the highest of health standards. I love how I can take some on the go with me so I can change them throughout the day while keeping them discreetly hidden inside my purse. For such a small piece of material, it certainly does the job in preventing pesky leaks from happening. I generally feel more at ease using Lilli Pads, knowing that what I’m putting into my body is all natural and made with 100% cotton.
